Educare combines early childhood education and child care in a way like never before. Educare provides year-round, all-day, high quality care to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families, in addition to comprehensive mental health, health and parenting support services. It is an innovative model that is designed to narrow the achievement gap for children in high-risk communities.

Research shows that children in low income homes start school behind their more affluent peers. Unfortunately, when a child starts behind, they often stay behind. Educare prepares at-risk children, ages birth to five, to be successful in school and into their adult lives. In 2000, The Ounce of Prevention Fund opened the first Educare Center in Chicago to address the challenge of preparing at-risk children to enter kindergarten ready to succeed.
